Group Financial Controller West/South Yorkshire c £120 000, car, substantial bonus potential, attractive LTIP, benefits.
With revenues in excess of £400 million and profits of c £70 million our client is a clear market leader, is acquisitive and has a focused strategy and an outstanding reputation for the manufacture of highly differentiated products across the construction sector in markets with high barriers of entry. Supported by consistent capital investment and with a leadership with deep knowledge of its markets, it has enjoyed year on year success. To strengthen the central finance team, it now seeks to appoint a Group Financial Controller to command the role and proactively support the Chief Financial Officer and the Board.
The successful candidate will be focused on the group control aspects of a publicly quoted company and will be accountable for monthly financial reporting and consolidations, annual and interim results together with assisting in analyst’s presentations and being the prime point of contact with the auditors and for all taxation matters. Through a small central finance team, the Group Financial Controller will be driven with the support of the board to provide a “centre of excellence” to bring transparency, order and discipline to the reporting processes and provide direction to external advisors. The successful candidate will be responsible for all external reporting - group and statutory and therefore prepare interim and annual results together with acting as “editor in chief” of the group’s annual report.
The Group Financial Controller will be a qualified accountant with strong financial reporting skills, have 5 to 10 years post qualification experience and with a good knowledge of consolidation systems. He/she will have a strong intellect and the ability to drill down in to the detail with experience of divisionalised structures, IFRS reporting and ideally an international business. He/she will be a confident and effective communicator, well organised and with good attention to detail and a robust and independent manner. With a strong intellect, clarity of mind, at home with technical and commercial complexity the Group Financial Controller will have the ability to identify and manage key financial challenges and get to the heart of the issues, “own the numbers” and provide support to the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will have a flexible and adaptable approach to thrive in a central team in which recent acquisition activity has created opportunities for members of the team to move in to operational roles.
