Financial Accountant

A technical financial accountant to work in central Newbury (IFRS knowledge is essential)

Your new company
A 'big data' technology company based in Newbury is looking to expand their busy technical accounting team.

Your new role
The Team is responsible for ensuring new accounting standards are maintained for the Group. A large proportion of the work involves determining the accounting for significant one-off transactions such as business combinations/M&A and legal entity reorganisations.
The Senior Technical Accountant's main responsibilities will include:

• Preparation and review of IFRS reporting and technical accounting papers
• Liaison with auditors on technical accounting issues;
• Interpret and implement new IFRS developments/standards
• Provide technical accounting and program management leadership and support for ongoing and new projects (implementation of IFRS 16 within the group)
• Provide analytics, guidance and direction for Impairment analysis annually (Goodwill/development costs)

What you'll need to succeed

• ACA or ACCA accounting qualification, or overseas equivalent (CPA)
• Proven technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
• Strong technical accounting and writing skills
• Solid communication skills and executive presence
• Outstanding analytical skills (financial modelling)
• Candidates coming straight from practice would also be considered for this position (industry experience not needed)
