Job Purpose
The role will be responsible for all financial reporting, analysis and valuation for the existing Fund, and subsequent follow-on Funds. The role will be the key finance department contact for the Fund and the post holder will work closely with other members of the finance department and the Fund administrators to deliver investment valuations, returns analysis, cash flow modelling and investor reporting as well as providing finance support into the investment transaction process.
Job Context
The Investment Accountant will be a senior finance department role reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer. The role will be the finance point of contact for the existing Fund and also planned future Funds. The role will work closely with the other members of the finance department, in addition to other departments and 3rd parties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fund accounting, management and reporting:
- Liaise with origination and trading department to update residual valuations and fly forward analysis.
- Preparation and quarterly updating of Fund lessor cash flow models.
- Preparation of monthly portfolio report for Fund lessor entities.
- Preparation of quarterly Fund investment valuation using discounted cash flow methodology.
- Preparation and updating of Fund performance financials/metrics for input into investor reports and presentations.
- Preparation of quarterly investor report, incorporating investment valuation and inputs from other departments.
- Calculation and co-ordination of Fund drawdowns and distributions.
- Portfolio monitoring and management activities, including evaluation of exit scenarios.
Statutory Reporting
- Liaise with external auditors and Fund administrators for annual audit of the Fund.
- Liaise with external tax advisors for annual K1 reporting for US investors.
Transaction support and analysis:
- Liaise with commercial department and external tax advisors to provide tax input into investment transaction proposals.
- Review transaction cash flow and pricing models
- Assist and advise in the creation of SPV structures
- Liaise with and provide analytical support to the CFOO and Treasurer in relation to portfolio debt facilities.
- Preparation and quarterly updating of other 3rd party lessor cash flow models and valuations.
Support CFOO in managing investor relations, including:
- Liaise with Fund administrator to respond to ad hoc investor queries,
- Key point of contact for Fund finance related queries,
- Preparation of annual investor presentations,
- Provide finance support into structuring and establishment of follow-on Funds, and
- Assist in preparation of Fund subscription documents and provide finance support through due-diligence process.
Person Specification
- Accountancy qualification (either ACA, ACCA or CIMA) – ACA preferred
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Knowledge of the commercial aircraft industry – desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of investment fund accounting – desirable but not essential
Experience
- Use of MS Excel for financial modelling and cashflow analysis
- Abilities & Skills
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Strong verbal, written and analytical skills and able to communicate to both a finance and non-finance audience, both internally and externally
- Confident in the use of accounting systems
- Clear understanding of investment analysis, the time value of money and discounted cash flow techniques
- Strong report writing skills
- Able to work proactively and manage workload to meet deadlines
