Credit Controller - Sheffield/Chesterfield - Excellent opportunity, £22,000 per annum

Your new company
Your new company is in the private sector supporting 5 different sites across the UK.

Your new role
Our client is seeking a credit controller to work with debtors to ensure both private and insured debt is collected in a timely manner, whilst also maintaining aged debtors in an orderly manner.

You will be responsible for all private debt across the group, with the first 6 months primarily being focused on aged debt.
You will be dealing with clients and insurers on a daily basis, utilising strong administrative skills to to maintain documentation and filing on outstanding debtors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all private debt across the Group; in the first instance focus will be purely on aged debt ie 6months+
  • Dealing with queries from insurers and clients on a daily basis, both by telephone and correspondence.
  • Maintaining files on outstanding debtors and keeping filing up to date on a daily basis
  • Reviewing accounts and preparing details to be passed to collection agencies, where appropriate, maintaining close contact with collection agencies until resolution
  • Monitoring outstanding accounts and where necessary liaising with other internal departments to facilitate prompt payment
  • Sending out reminder letters and where necessary escalating to legal action/senior management.
  • Prepare write offs of a monthly basis for authorisation.
  • Provide, at least monthly, updates to CFO's on debt relating to their particular facility


What you'll need to succeed
You will have a good knowledge of credit control practices (experience of business to customer credit control would be beneficial) and hold a resilient yet empathetic nature, as many clients that you will be working with will not only be debtors, but also be handling tough personal circumstances.
