This role in within a Foundation NHS Trust in London. Your responsibilies as Capital Manager will be core responsibilies such as maintaing and develping the fixed asset register, as well as business partnering and assess business cases.

Description
Your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Maintain and develop the Trust fixed asset register (value c £390m) to meet Trust and statutory requirements and to enable the accurate forecasting of capital charges;
- Assessing business cases & charitable funding; including working closely with the project manager on numerous ongoing and projects coming up;
- -Challenging and building relationships with non-finance stakeholders;
- Ensure the integrity of the fixed asset register through asset verification and reconciliation to the general ledger;
- Complete capital asset financial information for the monthly NHS Improvement returns, annual statutory accounts, Capital Programme Board (CPB) finance report and other financial reports ensuring that work is completed on a timely basis so that internal and external reporting deadlines are met;
- Provide guidance, advice and support to managers in terms of managing capital resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the Trust's strategic aims whilst taking account of current Department of Health, NHS Improvement and IFRS guidance;
- Advise on the VAT treatment of capital acquisitions ensuring proactive VAT planning on capital schemes;
- Responsible for the register of leased assets and for providing financial information relating to leases for statutory returns;
- Monitor capital expenditure and cash flow ensuring the Trust's capital control target is met at financial year end;
- Input into the planning process in respect of capital;
- Line management responsibilities including performance review and appraisal;
- Accountable to the Head of Financial Operations for adherence to statutory accounting requirements, International Financial Reporting Standards, Department of Health and NHS Improvement accounting standards and Trust policies for internal control, corporate governance and reporting requirements.
Profile
You, as the successful candidate will have:
- Accounting qualification: ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA (or equivalent);
- Relevant experience of full financial and capital accounting cycle;
- Knowledge of NHS capital accounting regime;
- Experience of computerised accounting systems;
- Able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- Able to design and update spread sheets and produce financial reports and be an experienced user of Excel and word ;
- Highly numerate and analytical and able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Able to identify and resolve issues accurately, effectively and efficiently;
- Knowledge of rules surrounding confidentiality, information governance and data protection
- Awareness of IFRS;
- Able to work under pressure and to plan and prioritise workload effectively;
- Ability to work well in a team and on own initiative;
- Able to demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication skills;
- Able to communicate professionally with all levels of staff and the public;
- Able to deal diplomatically with client queries and concerns and diffuse potentially difficult situations;
