Role Summary

They have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join their ambitious organisation as part of their friendly Accounts Team and support the Head of Finance to administer the sales ledger and credit control function.

They provide education and care for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment and communication disorders and autism.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Finance, responsibilities for the successful Finance Offer will include:

• Raising all invoices relating to student fees adhering to different local authority requirements i.e. Portals
• Raising all invoices relating to the Residential Care Short Breaks service, and liaising with our Care Service to ensure information is timely and accurate to reduce queries with parents / local authorities
• Identify and implement process improvements within the sales function
• Main point of contact for local authorities in relation to financial aspects of student fee calculations, placements and contract agreements
• Follow up on outstanding debts as part of the credit control function and advise the Head of Finance of any issues arising from this
• Manage the cash and banking transactions in relation to student fees and post the required adjustments in Sage
• Ensure all payments are correctly allocated to invoices and credits on each customer account
• Monitor the debtors’ ledger and ensure all invoices are paid promptly.
• Reconcile the sales ledger on a monthly basis to agreed deadlines

Requirements

• Part qualified AAT / Finance qualification or extensive practical sales ledger experience
• GCSE English and Maths (grade A-C), or level 2 numeracy and literacy
• Ability to prioritise work and manage potentially conflicting demands on time
• Experience with computerised accounting systems and MS Excel
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, and to meet deadlines
• Highly motivated, well organised and methodical
• Good communication skills, both written and spoken
• Able to work with low levels of supervision but knows when to seek advice
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with different stakeholders, both internal and external
