Operational Accountant

One of the UK's most reputable and successful retailers are recruiting for an ambitious and versatile Operational Accountant to join their expanding commercial finance team. Your role will be to support the Finance Manager with the provision of high quality operational accounting along with adding value through commercial recommendations.

In your role as an Operational Accountant you will take on various duties and responsibilities. Your main responsibilities will include:

*Ensure that rigorous controls and processes are in place to safeguard business assets and maintain the integrity of financial data and reporting, and that these are adhered to.
*Produce information requests within the required timescales, including Business Review and Board packs, KPIs, dashboards, trackers and forecasts.
*Responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the business plan for the relevant area of the business.
*Provide robust and timely financial reporting.
*Review trends and challenge current performance, identifying risks and opportunities within the finance department and the wider business.
*Provide a support service to other Finance areas and with the wider business through the appraisal and analysis of financial performance and the implementation of best practice.
*Ensure delivery of key financial measures including the year-end audit, statutory accounts and changes in accounting standards.
*Support Commercial Managers as they liaise with external auditors to provide assurance over approach and methodology with regard to year end processes.
*Work collaboratively across all business functions to share and implement best practice and develop the financial understanding of team members at all levels.
*Support the business teams in making commercial decisions to ensure the achievement of business plan targets.
*Develop close relations across the business
*Support department cost and efficiency reviews
*Deliver commercial support and insight on ad hoc projects and activities across the Department
*Support the department with ROI models, recommendations and post investment appraisal.

You should ideally be professionally qualified or part-qualified with ACCA/ACA/CIMA with previous experience in a commercial or operational accounting role. The role should suit an ambitious individual with strong communication and analytical skills who enjoys adding their own views on operations. Any experience in a Retail environment should be highlighted on your CV.
