Finance Manager – North London - J1792
Description:
Our client is a Series A funded food start-up business looking to shape their finance function by building up their reporting, BI, systems, processes and people. The end goal for this role is to manage all day to day accounting, as well as work cross functionally on ad hoc projects to improve the businesses over all financial performance.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Month-end accounting:
- Support the Finance Director in setting up and implementing Financial Controls, Processes and Systems
- Responsibility for running the month-end accounting and financial close process, including bank reconciliations, adjustments, journal entries, and other balance sheet reconciliations
Monthly financial reporting:
- Support the Finance Director with setting up tailored monthly management accounts and reports direct from the accounting system
- Produce monthly management accounts and internal management packs, undertaking any checks and analysis as required
- Supporting the Finance Director on presenting financial information at internal meetings
- Support on any financial & accounts related reporting for quarterly Board Meetings and Investor comms
Accounts Payable:
- Manage our Purchase to Pay processes, keeping an accurate ledger within the accounts of our Creditor balances and schedule of payments on a weekly and monthly basis
- Performing reconciliations and working closely with the purchasing department to control cash flows, reduce costs and improve our payment terms
Payroll, Expenses, VAT:
- Manage the monthly payroll, including liaising with our external payroll accounting firm
- Managing internal Expense reporting for the team
- Support the Finance Director with our quarterly VAT returns
BI + Analytics:
- Perform financial and non-financial analytics on business information to understand trends, drivers and ways to improve business performance
- Support the marketing and commercial teams with setting up and producing BI reports
Build out the Finance function:
- Support the Finance Director in shaping, building and growing the Finance function and team, to support the ambitious growth plans
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in accounting, finance or a similarly relevant field
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA equivalent) with 2-3 years in-house accounting experience or accounting for clients within an accounting firm
- Master of Excel & Powerpoint. Experience of performing analysis, financial modelling and reporting
- Has worked with Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.
- A track record of implementing systems, processes, solutions to drive automation, improve accuracy of financial reporting
- Fast learner. adaptable, acute attention to detail, delivers excellent work, driven, takes feedback well, is highly self-aware and personable
- Proactive doer. Embodies proactivity, with a can-do attitude, will go the extra mile(s) when needed, and has solid project management skills. Willing to dig-in, research and learn a way around any challenge autonomously
Salary, Benefits & Duration:
Salary: Around £40,000 – £45,000 + shares + benefits
