This role is for a Senior Auditor with strong technical ability, to work within a fantastic housing sector organisation, helping to improve their internal controls and assess their business operations.

Description

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of business processes, risk environment and control frameworks to support continuous improvement objectives

  • Work collaboratively with strategic and operational management to identify and deliver improvements in the risk and control environment and to maintain trusting relationships

  • Scope and prepare draft audit assignment Terms of Reference for review and agreement by the HIA and audit client

  • Use the audit management system to record high quality, evidence based testing schedules and working records ensuring conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process and risks under review

  • Prepare high quality, evidence based internal audit reports and provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Lead meetings with audit clients to ensure understanding of audit objectives, findings and recommendations, offering practical and achievable solutions for improvement to operations and the control environment

  • Deliver internal audit assignments in accordance with prescribed deadlines, Internal Audit Procedures and performance standards and in accordance with Professional Audit Standards (PSIAS)

  • Monitor delivery of audit action plans and conduct follow up reviews to ensure agreed audit recommendations are delivered and sustained

  • Participate in project groups where required to provide controls advice as necessary

  • Undertake special projects, ad hoc audits, fraud or breach investigations as required on request of the HIA
    Supervise, motivate and support more junior auditors and guest auditors where required by the HIA, providing performance review and professional guidance

  • Maintain audit administration systems and data to support audit and performance monitoring activities

  • Keep up to date with IIA Professional Practices Framework, sector related legislation, regulations and risk management and control best practices to ensure the internal audit function is high quality and compliant with professional standards

Profile

  • Hold a CIA or PIIA qualification and working towards a full audit qualification (CMIIA)

  • Have at least two year's hands-on audit experience across financial, technical, regulated and complex business risks

  • Strong data analytical skills and strong IT skills

  • Have solid verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with all members of staff

  • Can produce high quality, evidenced based records to support your audit work, which are in line with modern audit practice and professional audit standards

  • Is able to write and present well-structured, balanced reports which support management in delivering their risk management and control improvement responsibilities

  • Has excellent stakeholder skills and a high level of personal integrity and tenacity in the conduct of their work

  • Flexible and adaptable and able manage their workload to meet deadlines - so you'll need excellent planning and time management skills Provide day to day support to the team's more junior auditor
