What you'll be doing
- Processing payrolls from beginning to end in accordance with current legislation, policies and processes, and time lines, while ensuring that all payroll transactions are approved by an appropriately authorised person
- Collating change data, completing input sheets, and making sure peer checks are carried out
- Ensure that payroll reports are created and distributed to the business and third parties as necessary
- Ensure all key controls are adhered to
- Reporting errors to the relevant Team Lead as first point of contact
- Maintain confidentiality and make sure sensitive files are protected appropriately
- Make ad-hoc payroll payments on occasion, and support the Team Leads in responding to questions
- Maintain up to date knowledge of Payroll legislation and internal policies
- Ensure all payroll deadlines are met and quality levels are maintained
- Ensure all payrolls are funded and paid on time, and ensure pensions, PAYE/NI, GAYE, SIP etc. are paid on time
- Ensure all payroll journals are posted in line with month end timetable
- Assist with monitoring the payroll inbox and dealing with queries in a timely manner
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Proven payroll knowledge and an in-depth understanding of relevant HMRC legislation
- Knowledge of UK manual tax and national insurance calculations including complex scenarios
- A confident user of Excel, Word, HMRC online PAYE services
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written, and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team
- Invested in promoting a customer care/service-based approach and operate with discretion
- The ability to be pro-active, flexible, and adaptable while problem solving when required
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, growing environment. As we're a global organisation, experience working across time zones would be advantageous
- Good working knowledge of P11D process
- Experience of SAP reporting for payroll purposes
- Experience/Interest in International Payroll delivery
