Financial Accountant

Central London

£300 a day (6 months)

My client is a multi-national engineering business based in Central London and are looking for a Financial Accountant for 6 months. The role will be reporting into the chief accountant

Duties:

  • Support the Chief Accountant for all Month End closing activities in compliance with company accounting policies and application of IFRS/FRS102
  • Responsible for all statutory reporting and compliance issues for specific Legal Entities.
  • Drive standardisation of accounting processes & recording of transactions in collaboration with Global Centre.
  • Work with Business Controllers, FP&A to standardise daily, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Monitor share capital development and dividends, making sure that equity and dividend payment rules are followed and are legally compliant
  • Monitor cash flow development, making sure that internal long-term funding (loans/deposits) or capital adjustments are properly arranged & authorised.
  • Ensure compliance with Group & International Accounting Standards and Statutory and Tax rules.
  • Oversee tax compliance and support tax reviews, preparation of tax reports and tax calculations for annual group & statutory accounts (together with Tax Manager).
  • Oversee compliance to statutory rules, support annual audits and prepare annual statutory accounts, notes and annual reports (incl. public announcements, if requested).
  • Coordinate and facilitate on Internal Control matters, prepare companies for Internal Control visits and actively participate in Group Internal Control visits.
  • Act as the main contact point towards auditors and outsourcing partners.
  • Oversee and sign off reconciliations of major balance sheet accounts
  • Expert understanding and application of Group Accounting policies
  • Take personal responsibility for ongoing professional development
  • Check all journal entries on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analysing and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accruals are accurate and complete
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly analysis on balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to further streamline accounting tasks, increase efficiency and shorten month end close calendar.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant CA/ACCA/ACA
  • Can be straight out of practice or within industry
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Good systems skills including Excel
