This organisation is an award winning recruitment agency based in South Manchester. They deliver a wide range of specialist recruitment and outsourcing services to clients in both the public and private sectors. They specialise in a wide range of industries to include Healthcare and Education. Due to business growth, and an in particular, acquisition of multiple client wins, they have an immediate need for a Payroll Supervisor to join their team.

Your new role


The company is now seeking a Payroll Supervisor to assist with running an efficient and effective payroll service across the Group, ensuring all employees and temporary workers are provided with accurate information at all times. The job holder will calculate and administer Statutory Sick Pay, Maternity Pay and Statutory Paternity Pay for both employees and temporary workers. Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising a team of Payroll processing staff
  • Assisting Payroll manager in all areas where necessary
  • Assume responsibility for a team producing weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • To handle and resolve any queries that may arise relating to payroll.
  • External reporting to HMRC.
  • Complete all accompanying paperwork
  • Auto enrolment processing
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of payroll best practice, legislation as it applies to payroll, and all statutory payments and deductions.
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on matters relating to pay, taxation, statutory payments and National Insurance.



What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this position you will have solid experience of successfully operating multiple payrolls including weekly and monthly, have a good understanding of statutory payments and a working knowledge of RTI. You must also have had strong experience of computerised payroll systems and a knowledge of Tempest is highly desirable. You will have excellent people management skills to include effective communication, ability to lead by example and have a strong team work ethic. Your telephone manner will be excellent and you must have strong customer service skills.
