Based in Cambridge ideally. Birmingham or Norwich alternative locations. Travel required whichever office is the base location.

Reporting to the Managing Partner and as a member of both the firm's Board and Central Operations Group (COG), the CFO is responsible for providing optimal financial management of the firm. This will be achieved by:

o Providing strategic and commercial advice to improve the overall performance of the business

o Working with the Managing Partner, Senior Partner and senior management team to set the firm's medium and longer term financial strategy, providing ideas and vision in how they can be achieved

o Providing leadership and strategic direction to the finance function

o Engaging and motivating the finance team to deliver best in class finance systems, processes and advice including driving and delivering improvements in efficiencies

o Ensuring the finance team complies with all its regulatory responsibilities

o Acting as the firm's Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA)

Suitable candidates will be a qualified accountant with experience of leading and engaging a dispersed finance team with multiple direct reports. They will have worked at CFO level (or equivalent) and in a role of similar scale and complexity or be someone in a larger organisation looking for a step up into C-suite level position. They will also have the following skills and attributes:

o High levels of credibility and leadership experience with excellent people skills, business acumen, gravitas and an exemplary work ethic

o Influential and consultative approach coupled with the ability to make decisive decisions.

o Leadership and management of a team and creating a sense of cohesion and collaboration. Able to maintain a positive environment during periods of change

o Entrepreneurial and innovative approach to solving complex strategic issues, coupled with the ability to analyse and implement solutions

o Ambitious and driven, can come up with ideas and highlight where commercial opportunities for the firm may lie and how to take advantage of them in a prudent way

o Challenging but not confrontational with a clear sense of direction but also with an understanding of the need to listen to the specific views of our people, partners and clients.

o Ability to build relationships and trust effortlessly with a transparent, inclusive and open communication style
