We are looking to recruit a Assistant Accountant to add to our friendly four-person accounts team, helping to service six small/medium companies in a fast-paced, vibrant environment near Chelsea Harbour. The new Assistant Accountant will need to be able to turn your hand to most finance department transactional tasks (including sales ledger, purchase ledger and cashbook), and to manage your own time to ensure deadlines are met. You should be happy working independently and as part of a team, and enjoy communicating with other staff and externals.

The Assistant Accountant's Purpose:
To provide finance office support to the company and any of its associated companies as required, ensuring financial processes are completed fully within a timely fashion. This will include (but is not limited to): sales, purchases, cashbook and nominal transactional functions, assisting the finance manager in preparation of management information, and adhoc support duties.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities of the Assistant Accountant:
- Processing and posting of sales and purchase invoices using the Sage accounts system
- Dealing with customer and supplier queries
- Credit control
- Checking, analysis and coding of company credit card statements and employee expense claims
- Processing of bank payments and posting of bank receipts and payments in Sage
- Maintenance of finance department filing system as necessary
General and Other Duties:
- Identification of and engagement in improvements to new and existing procedures
- Cover for other team members as required
- Performance of any reasonable requests from a director of the company
Qualifications, Experience and Skills required of the Assistant Accountant:
Qualifications and experience:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent)
Previous experience in a finance department
Full or part accountancy qualification: at least AAT (or equivalent)
Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn
Sufficient financial skills to be able to reconcile nominal and ledger accounts
Attention to detail and accuracy
Logical, methodical and highly organised approach
Sufficient literacy to be able to communicate effectively (both written and orally) with staff and externals, including our customers
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good Excel skills
General IT literacy, familiarity with MS Office and Google applications
