Do you believe everyone should have a place to call home and the chance to lead a fulfilling life?

SHP is a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. Each day our staff work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency. From supporting people in crisis to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to 8,000 lives every year.

We have a strong reputation with commissioners and within the housing sector for the quality of the services we provide and are proud of the innovative and pioneering work we have done to improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in society.

We employ 400 staff across London, and have a turnover of c£21m, the vast majority of which is drawn from local authority contracts and from rents. Following investment in our fundraising team, we are also diversifying income streams, with a small but increasing proportion of our funding drawn from corporates, trusts and foundations, and individual donors.

With homelessness at its highest level for a decade and cuts to public services affecting the most vulnerable, our work is more needed than ever. We want to scale up our work, deepen our impact and reach even more people. We need an experienced Director of Finance and IT who will support us to be an even more effective, sustainable and resilient organisation, optimising our financial management, and strengthening our business acumen.

A qualified accountant, you will bring strategic experience in leading finance within the not for profit sector, ideally within homelessness or housing. You will be skilled in providing strategic advice and constructive challenge to an experienced senior management team and have experience of reporting to a board. With effective negotiation and influencing skills you will be experienced in leading change, will have led financial planning and budgeting processes and improved and implemented new finance systems. A proactive and team-oriented leader, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and an empowering management style, with experience of developing service and performance-oriented finance teams who take a business partnering approach.
