Client Details

Our client are an award winning financial services company based in the City Centre and were named as one of the Best Workplaces in the 'Best Workplaces' awards 2018.

Description

  • Performance of Internal Audits. This involves planning the assignment, discussion with colleagues and evaluation of key risk and controls, recording of evidence and conclusions, creating a report and monitoring completion of recommended management actions. Whilst a framework exists for managing audits, each assignment is unique.
  • Administrative activities within the team e, maintaining process notes, running reports of overdue items.

Internal Auditors work as members of the Internal Audit team to perform audit and other reviews. They gather relevant evidence and form conclusions to give assurance to the Board that the arrangements in place to manage risks to the Group's assets, and to its customers, are adequate and appropriate. This will involve discussion, reading and other tests to understand and record how business processes work and whether they are designed and operating effectively. Internal Audit's work covers the whole breadth of the organisation.

Internal Auditors work on their own assignments or with a Senior Internal Auditor on larger or more complex assignments. No two assignments are the same and self-learning including best practice and key risks is required before every audit. Work assigned to an Internal Auditor will contain a moderate level of complexity, with support being available from senior members of the audit team where necessary. All internal audit work is subject to quality control by senior members of the team.

All members of the internal audit team can expect to meet with colleagues at all levels up to SLT and to be able to confidently gather information, to discuss areas of concern and potential solutions. For more complex or difficult areas, support from senior members of the Internal Audit team is available.

Internal Auditors are expected to complete planning, fieldwork and reporting within agreed timescales and using our audit framework such that the majority of work produced needs no further modification. Having proposed and agreed audit objectives and testing before starting audit fieldwork, the auditor must nevertheless adapt to what they find e., by asking additional questions or modifying testing to ensure audit objectives are met. Internal Auditors must exercise judgement to reach conclusions about the adequacy of the control framework based on the evidence gathered, and must be able to communicate this effectively both verbally and through written reports.
