I'm working for an Environmental Consultancy firm based in Central London, where I am recruiting for a Financial Controller role. This firm is a high growth SME, typically increasing their revenue 20-25% year on year. This would be a really exciting time to join the business, with the opportunity to shape and mould their finance function.
The role of Financial Controller will include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and journals
- Managing the monthly payroll using an outsourced provider
- Cash management
- Projecting profitability reporting and owning the revenue recognition process
- Line managing the Accounts Assistant (Purchases, Bank data entry, Sales and Credit Control) and Project Accountant (Revenue recognition, MI and Resource Management system)
- Preparing the annual accounts and liaising with auditors
- Contributing to financial strategy and suggesting improvements for operational control
- Data preparation and analysis to support monthly board reporting
- Modelling and management of annual budgeting processes and budget spend tracking
The suitable candidate for the role of Financial Controller must be/have:
- Degree qualified
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant
- Able to demonstrate data analytics expertise, preferably in a business partnering environment
- Experience of full trial balance ownership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Open and willing to learn and develop within company culture
- Mid-level Excel capabilities (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, SUMIF & multiple IF statements)
- Previous experience in an SME environment
