Jisc also have opportunities in Bristol and Oxford. Jisc exists to make education in the UK the best it can be. A social enterprise agency, we are the UK’s main digital body for tertiary-level lifelong learning and research. With significant funding from all four governments in the UK, we empower all universities and colleges to provide transformative learning. We deliver the infrastructure and thought leadership for the technology needed to make the UK the best place in the world to teach, learn and research together. This is an exciting time to be a key part of our top team and propel our ambitious strategy. This is far from the usual CFO role. We are investing in the next generation of technology to transform and power education and this is your opportunity to really take the reins and lead change, while driving our financial progress and ensuring stability.

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Providing financial leadership and vision.
  • Driving improvement, promoting excellence and maintaining the highest levels of financial reporting.
  • Leading the analysis and planning of financial and business performance against agreed KPIs, as well as the development of targets, operating plans and budget.
  • Producing all consolidated financial and management reporting for senior management.
  • Ensuring effective and appropriate systems and controls are in place as well as cost effectiveness and risk management of the financial leadership.
  • Attending a range of meetings not limited to Board, Finance, Treasury Committee, Audit Committee and Funders and Owners group.

To be successful, you should have an obvious passion and drive. You’ll be a natural influencer, a project leader and motivator and may already be working within tech. You will enjoy engaging and inspiring teams; developing talent within the finance function and managing stakeholder relationships. A track record of managing complex strategic financial environments, political contexts and wider impacts of long-term implementation strategies is a must. You will also be adept at applying modern financial systems with a service led approach. You will be someone who naturally strives for continuous improvement.

Of course, you will also have the nuts and bolts and will be a qualified accountant (ACA /CCAB or recognised equivalent body) with senior leadership experience - ideally from a commercially focussed technology or service business. Technical knowledge is a given, but the ability to communicate it in a clear, non-technical way will set you apart.

So, what are you waiting for? Apply now for a chance to forge your career and be part of a bright, talented team. In a job you love to talk about.
