Unique and exciting opportunity for an intelligent and experienced qualified accountant (Financial Controller level) with excellent communication, leadership and technical skills to assist with key operational and strategic finance related projects. The role is initially a 12 month contract, and you will enjoy an excellent working environment. Candidates looking for a 4 day working week will also be considered.


You role will cover the following;
  • Lead business wide projects where input from a finance perspective is required. Projects already identified for this role include:
  • In addition to leading the projects already identified, provide ad-hoc, commercially focused financial appraisals and analysis for smaller pieces of work which arise
  • Ensure projects are scoped with plans that are clear and achievable
  • Effectively manage communication with the division and the wider business to ensure that teams are well informed of key project milestones, issues and risks as the project progresses
  • Ensure key stakeholders are bought-into projects, keep them engaged and manage their expectations throughout the project
  • Drive projects building in regular checks to confirm delivery meets the project’s objectives and budget
  • Ensure project and governance documentation is prepared, reviewed and appropriately stored
    • Development of a project governance framework for capital projects to include the development of standardised financial modelling templates (discounted cash flows, rates of return etc.), standardised due diligence checks for assessing suppliers and customers and an accompanying reference guide for training purposes
    • A detailed financial review of two of the business to include a 5 year historic analysis of expenditure (operating and overheads) and income in order to aid the identification of potential cost savings, under performing assets etc.
    • In respect of a new manufacturing operation soon to come on stream, determine the best corporate structure including, scoping out the requirements for a new cost accounting system and identify a suitable software provider
  • Engage the Tax, Treasury and Reporting teams where appropriate ensuring their input on the project is optimised
 

To be considered you should have the following skills and experience;
  • A qualified ACA with 5+ years’ experience and an excellent academic record
  • Strong technical knowledge and a track record of delivering to a very high standard
  • Experience in providing financial input and management to support delivery of significant business projects
  • Specific experience in the following areas is highly preferable:
    • Discounted cash flow models, rates of return and due diligence checks
    • Cost accounting and cost accounting systems
  • Confident user of systems with experience of implementing system changes to the business. The ideal candidate will have experience of a wide range of finance systems and will have highly advanced Excel skills
  • Customer focused with experience of building effective internal and external relationships
  • Creative, commercial thinker, able to think outside the box and contribute effectively to the bigger picture yet manage and navigate through the detail
  • Pragmatic, analytical, persuasive and engaging character, who enjoys taking ownership and who gets things done
