DESCRIPTION

Are you interested in being part of an exciting new programme where it truly is Day 1? The Retail Finance team is looking for a high calibre Senior Financial Analyst to support Treasure Truck, a new consumer business that offers an exciting and unique shopping experience. Expect to get involved in driving performance and building plans for the future, as well as building and managing regular reporting, forecasting, and long term planning. This position will also involve providing insightful ad-hoc analysis focused on determining selection, overall profitability, and improving performance of the business.

The successful candidate will be highly analytical and driven, understand key business drivers and:
· Have a high level of customer focus and partnering with key internal customers
· Manage financial planning and analysis effort, forecasting various metrics for financial risks and opportunities
· Own the business and operating metrics, and facilitate financial review meetings with business groups and work with business managers to ensure effective finance and cost management

Key responsibilities include:

Business Case development
· Validate and finalise assumptions - partner with the Business Development and Vendor Management teams to confirm assumptions once scope and selection firmed up.
· Incorporate learnings from other locales into the UK Business.

Reporting
· P&L actuals – Leverage actuals reporting developed already and develop this for the UK project to enable accurate and timely reporting of performance (adapt for where differences occur, i.e. local costs, VAT).
· Define the governance structure and mechanisms for enabling effective financial performance tracking.
· Responsible for finance commentary required for M-Team updates and key business reviews.

Planning and analysis
· Provide insight and analysis to help define and shape the UK programme strategy, including scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis.
· Own the financial planning process for UK, including submission plans through working with key stakeholders.
· Identify opportunities to drive out unnecessary cost while maximising long term free cash flow.
· Partner closely with the supply chain and Operations team to align on planning process and submissions.
· Support Vendor Management team on pricing, promotional and profitability analysis to ensure within plan
· Partner with marketing team to develop a framework for analysing the performance of various customer acquisition and reactivation experiments

Financial Control
· Identify key financial risks and develop the framework and controls to mitigate these – link up with other Amazon teams where required, including accounting and tax.
· Financial reviewer and approver for deals selection and execution process
· Creation of control reports to enable review and auditing of P&L actual balances to ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

You will possess:
· A strong academic background
· A proven track record of working independently and influencing at a senior level
· An Accountancy qualification is preferred, an MBA may be considered
· Robust analytical & modelling skills required
· Advanced Excel essential and experience with VBA beneficial
· Have an eye for detail and a passion for data
· Have the ability to simplify and improve inefficient or unnecessarily complex processes
· Be able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
· Be able to build positive business relationships and work collaboratively
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Prior knowledge of SQL/ETL would be beneficial
· Experience working in a start-up environment
· Finance experience from retail, FMCG or technology companies within an international environment
