Role: Financial Accountant

Reports To: The Head of Finance

Job Overview: This is the number 2 within finance. Working in a small team at a forprofit social enterprise start-up. The role will offer a great deal of breadth across the finance spectrum, with the opportunity to work for and alongside the entire executive team. The company is an ethically driven emergency loan provider. There are a number of regular tasks that will be the core responsibilities of the job, however, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be keen to get stuck in to ad-hoc projects. We are looking for an intellectually curious individual, who is agile and able to learn and develop as the business grows. We are looking for a long-term hire who will stay with the business as they progress along the finance ladder and spectrum.

Key responsibilities:

Support Head of Finance, amongst other things, planning, budgeting, forecasting and preparation of Board reports

Financial Reporting

Perform the month end pre-close and running the month-end process

Assist Head of Finance in the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts

Supporting the Head of Finance with the Year-end Financial Reporting

Preparing and submitting tax returns

Prepare and analyse monthly expense reports

Cashflow reporting to investors

Financial Planning and Analysis

Producing regular Management Information for discussion at Exec Management Committees and Board Meeting

Monthly and Annual Forecasting

Financial Control

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations

Perform bank reconciliations

Financial operations

Raise payments to suppliers via online banking for approval by the Head of Finance

Supporting the Head of Finance with the development of the disbursements and collections policies and procedures

Experience and attributes

The role offers great scope for growth and development for the right individual, who should have the following:

Ambitious, keen to get hands on experience in a fast-changing start-up environment

Good verbal and written communication skills

Interest in technology or financial services industry

Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel

Experience of Sage or similar accounting systems

Bachelor's degree

Part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA desirable
