Role and responsibilities

Our client is a leading Asset Manager based in the City with over 1bn in assets under management. They are seeking a junior accountant to join the fund administration team to provide accounting support to the existing team.

They’ve developed an open and dynamic culture where someone with a bit of a lively personality will do best. The company has experienced lots of growth and has a good history of helping their employees progress and grow professionally. This is an excellent opportunity for someone studying for their AAT who wants to take the next step in an established business.

The fund administration team comprises 15 staff who deal with the accounting and administration of a range of tax-based and similar investment products (VCT, EIS and other products).

The role will include, but not limited to:

· Assisting with the preparation of annual/half year reports and monthly management accounts
· Administering payrolls
· Dealing with bank payments
· Arranging payments of invoices
· Reporting on budgets/viability statements
· Assisting with the review and finalisation of tax returns
· Maintaining share registers
· Assisting in share allotment process
· Corresponding with investee companies and HMRC

The position is being created to strengthen and support the exiting team. Over time we will look for the senior accountants to delegate increasing parts of their existing responsibilities. We anticipate that the successful candidate will have a varied role with some financial and management accounting work plus some company secretarial and fund administration work.
The role should provide good opportunities for the right candidate to develop and take on greater and greater responsibilities. This includes eventual support for a professional accounting qualification.
