Asthma 360x180

Chief Operating Officer

London

Up to £90,000

At Asthma UK, we operate with considerable reach and influence to alleviate the impact of what can be a debilitating and devastating condition. Part of our challenge (and opportunity) is the sheer scale of asthma prevalence; over five million people in the UK live with asthma (including more than 1 million children), there are 3 million asthma attacks every year and 3 people die every day as a result of the condition. We provide a range of services to help people with asthma live healthy and full lives, whilst also lobbying and funding vitally important research to find a cure.

Our talented and ambitious team is diverse, with a broad range of industry experience that is enabling us to do more for our beneficiaries. Those beneficiaries most at risk are highly digitally engaged and we have invested heavily in digital capability and change to do more to support them in recent years, but there's still a great deal to do. We’re also determined to optimise our strategic partnerships in the research, digital health and income generating space.  We will not stand still.

We are now looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join the Executive team and help transition our operations to a next phase of growth. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for leading our financial strategy, owning our overall governance framework and leading on the development of robust business plans, budgets and streamlined operations; monitoring performance and risk whilst eliciting best value from our increasing number of strategic partnerships.  As COO, you’ll also play a broader, enabling role, ensuring that we are able to respond to the opportunities offered to us by the smart use of digital, data and technology.

Financially qualified, you will be a high-calibre COO with a strong track record of financial, technology, strategic and operational management, ideally gained in a small to medium sized business which operates with significant external reach.  Having ideally supported technology led business transformation elsewhere, you will be commercially astute and conversant with the operational and financial risks and opportunities offered by digitalisation, able to derive outstanding performance from a range of internal and external teams to ensure that we maximise investment and deliver.

With prior exposure to a range of business models, your diversity of experience will enable you to cast a critical, yet constructive eye over the way we do business to accelerate delivery of our strategy.  Your personal investment in our mission, along with your high energy levels, appetite for change and variety, intellect and positive attitude will also ensure that we remain future focused; able and willing to embrace optimum and new ways of working to do more for people living with asthma.

If you have the ambition, credentials and values to help steer our organisation and operating model to the next level, we’d love to hear from you.
