Client Details

My client who I have worked with for a few years now is a multinational professional services and engineering firm headquartered in London's West-End which provides engineering, design, planning, project management and consulting services for all aspects of the built environment

Description

  • Develop, maintain and update the group financial model including both operational and financial functionality
  • Manage detailed sensitivity analysis and assumptions to explore the impact of changes to financial policies, new initiatives and changes in the external environment
  • Ensure the arithmetic accuracy, logical integrity, security and control of the group model
  • Provide analysis on the outputs of the model versus historic and bottom up forecast data
  • Contribute to the timely production, review and presentation of the group's annual business plan, with a focus on outputs from the financial model including distributions, covenant ratios, financing, cash flows and balance sheet
  • Provide modelling support for the evaluation of potential mergers, acquisitions and significant investment opportunities
  • Development and analysis of commercial projects and supporting regions for complex projects
  • Review and challenge new internal investment proposals ensuring accuracy of financial projections in accordance with the group's Investment Appraisal and Approval Policy
  • Work closely with the Group Treasurer to incorporate and assess changes to group debt and hedging structures
  • Work closely with the Group Tax Manager to ensure the financial model is kept up to date with current tax legislation
  • Provide outputs from the group model for presentation to management, shareholders, advisors, rating agencies, and lenders and work closely with these stakeholders to ensure an understanding of the model as required
  • Maintain written documentation of the model and provide training to the wider group in the use of the group model as necessary
  • Undertake ad hoc sensitivity and financial analysis of the group's activities as necessary
  • Involvement in projects to deliver process improvements to the business planning function
  • Contribute to the design and testing of new forecasting and planning processes, including the effective use of a new ERP system

Profile

Essential

  • Big 4 or 2nd Tier accounting firm background / major bank equivalent
  • 2+ years PQE
  • Previous experience and evidence of developing and maintaining complex financial models within a large organisation
  • Practical application of corporate finance theory in valuation models for strategic decision making
  • MS Excel development skills
  • Reasons logically with verbal information and applies analytical and logical reasoning to synthesize and evaluate information and arrive at sound conclusions
  • Diagnosis of underlying causes of problems and proposes a range of possible options and makes clear recommendations
  • Highly numerate with proven working experience in analysing and interpreting financial information
  • High standards of accuracy and precision, with a strong attention to detail
  • Self-management to meet deadlines
  • Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
