Currently recruiting an Interim Project Accountant for a large family owned business based in Hull, this position is a brand new role purely focusing on manufacturing and operational efficiencies. The role is an interim position for a 3-5 month period but this could be extended depending on various internal projects.
The role will directly report to the Group FD however you will have a dotted line into the GM as the factory/manufacturing processes are the key area of focus. The interim support will be needed to improve the systems and processes in the business and implement standard costing using the existing systems, as well as providing support to the existing finance team. I have included the below responsibilities:
- To review current systems and procedures in relation to the manufacturing element of the business and make improvements to improve visibility of manufacturing costs and implement standard costing principles.
- Review current systems for purchase ordering and use of this system in stock control.
- To provide financial guidance to the junior finance team and work with them to improve controls and procedures.
- This role will assume the finance team as direct reports, and will ensure that they are completing necessary tasks to the required standard and in a timely manner. Review of management accounts prior to submission to group, vat returns, will fall under this role.
- Work with the General Manager and finance team to implement improvements in visibility over the manufacturing cost of products in the business. The first part of this role is to ensure that the material cost of production is accurately reported, with a standard costing basis used. The second stage will be to implement standard costing for direct labour.
- Review the use of difference systems in the business and review effectiveness and whether efficiencies in the current process can be achieved.
- Review the monthly balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, prior to submission to Group and reporting to the Group head office to given reporting deadlines
- Providing Operational management with relevant KPIs and management reporting to assist decision making and operational planning
- Management of finance team within the business
The successful candidate will have a wealth of manufacturing experience in particular across product/standard costing and stock accounting. The position will be of an ad hoc nature so it would suit someone who can work in a fast paced and changing environment, must be available to start within a week or two.
