Senior Finance Specialist

We are looking for a dynamic and focussed individual to be the Senior Finance Specialist as part of our biggest and most ambitious transformation which will be taking the Council to new levels of excellence.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative Senior Finance Specialist. This key role will give the right candidate the opportunity to get invaluable experience across a range of key corporate areas within the Council.

About this role:

We are looking for a CCAB qualified accountant who can deliver to the Council’s financial requirements. This will include the preparation and monitoring of budgets, the annual Statement of Accounts and assistance in preparing the MTFS. 

You will have the ability to resolve a broad range of complex finance casework and be able to provide resilience and flexibility within the specialist Finance team.You will ensure compliance with statutory regulations, legislation, professional codes of practice and adherence to council policy and deliver projects, initiatives and develop policies (together with the Strategy teams) in line with corporate and service plans.

You will need to prepare and present reports, financial plans and budgets to Council Committees and other internal and external meetings. With functional leadership for two finance specialists you will ensure the provision of professional services that meet customer needs and report to the Resources Specialist Services Manager, who is responsible for the delivery of all professional corporate services.

You will also assist in the development of the community of practice across the organisation, including mentoring staff to improve delivery of the specialism and support career development.
