Hawkmont Consulting are working exclusively with a fast growth SME, operating in the financial services sector. This newly created Financial Controller role is based in Manchester and has a European focus. The business are stepping up their global expansion plans and the appointment of a newly created Financial Controller will play an integral part of the growth story.

The business are a leader in their field, with operations in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee all facets of accounting operations and deliver timely and accurate financial information. Develop MI and reporting, partner with senior management and develop and lead a best in class finance team. As Financial Controller you will oversee accounting, budgeting, payment processing & remittance, financial reporting and audit.

Your initial 3-6 months will be very hands on where you will be responsible for running a month end process, whilst you set processes up for the future UK team. Your role will develop quickly and you will work with your colleagues in the US and develop a strategy for the UK finance team that you will recruit and lead. This UK based team will have a global focus and will produce accounts for all operational areas outside of the US, Canada and South America.

Your responsibilities:

  • Review of monthly management accounts.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations for CFO.
  • Management, recruitment and mentoring of the finance team, including AP, AR, General Ledger, Patroll, Tax and Payroll.
  • Cash forecasting for the Company’s UK-based entities, including Ireland..
  • Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal control.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting policies, systems and procedures.
  • Own month-end, quarter-end, and annual close.
  • Manage foreign transactions and exchange
  • In partnership with the CFO identify and develop accounting systems.
  • Identify future geographies and actively participate into due diligence of new territory.

Your background:

You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant experience in a fast growing, multi-national business. You will be an excellent communicator and influencer, able to lead a team and challenge at all levels. If you are Multi-lingual in western European languages preferred, but not essential.
