Leading global Media organisation based in Central London, is looking for a qualified Group Management Accountant to join its Shared Services team.

Reporting to the Head of Group Reporting, this role sits in a Group finance team of 12, as part of a wider Shared Services team of 60.

Purpose of the job:

To ensure complete monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting is completed and delivered accurately by the given deadlines for a number of UK corporate entities and to lead in delivering the results and reporting for the consolidated UK Group.

The main responsibilities include:

Planning

  • Responsible for delivery of the monthly forecasts and annual budgets for corporate entities
  • Responsible for submission and reporting in Hyperion
  • Responsible for submission of the forecasts and budgets produced by the agencies in Hyperion
  • Coordinating and answering network queries

Management Accounts for Corporate Entities

  • Responsible for the preparation of the management accounts for the corporate entities, preparing the more complex areas
  • Ensure management accounts are signed off on a monthly basis by senior management team
  • Review analysis of the monthly P&L and variances to forecast, including commentary on variances
  • Review analysis of all balance sheet lines including accruals, bank reconciliation etc. for these entities monthly
  • Review the upload and submission of the monthly Hyperion management accounts P&L and BS
  • Review and prepare various reports and analyse accounts in order to understand activity within the month
  • Review reconciliations from the general ledger to the management accounts
  • Approve journals to be posted onto the finance system
  • Responsible for payroll reconciliation and reporting for selected entities

Statutory Reporting

  • Prepare the financial statements for the corporate entities including the reconciliation of US to UK GAAP
  • Preparation of consolidated accounts if required
  • Be the primary contact for audit of the corporate entities

Tax

  • Perform monthly tax account reconciliations
  • Responsible for VAT and EC sales list submission to HMRC on a quarterly basis and timely payments to HMRC
  • Responsible for the completion of the annual internal tax questionnaires and templates
  • Prepare the consolidated tax reporting templates
  • Responsible for the annual PSA calculation and submission

Group Consolidation

  • Ensure all entities report month results and forecast in line with deadlines
  • Work with agency management accounting team to resolve issues which may prevent meeting deadlines or impact accuracy of reporting for the group
  • Prepare consolidation adjustments and process these in Hyperion
  • Dealing with foreign currency revaluations and currency translation adjustments as required
  • Ensure intercompany matching at month end
  • Responsible for producing monthly consolidation files
  • Co-ordinate and review the other reporting templates

Person Specification:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Solid all round accounting experience, including management accounting and group level reporting - essential
  • The ideal candidate will have experience from a large and complex commerce and industry company
  • Good working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience of Hyperion is beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP system beneficial but not essential
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Takes pride in great work, able to prioritise workload and delivers results

  • Quick to learn and adaptable to changing work allocation and environment
  • Pro-active and with a can do attitude and able to handle tasks and drive results without close supervision
