Axon Moore are representing a high growth, fin tech business based near Cheadle, south of Manchester. Forward thinking and with a focus on tech-based innovation and ethical trading, our client has quickly become a market leader within the sector gaining an extensive client base and achieving seven figure pre-tax profits in the first 4 years. Following the initial success, there has been continued investment in infrastructure and several strategic appointments.

 
In line with plans for future growth, our client is keen to add an ambitious Financial Accountant to the growing Head Office team. The successful candidate will be working cross-functionally in a very commercial environment to further develop key processes.
 

About the role

This role sits within the finance team and will involve interaction with finance and non-finance colleagues across the business to improve systems and processes. Working closely with the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be able to work flexible and play an active role in large stand-alone projects as well as an ongoing focus on Finance Operation, Accounting and Line Management.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Managing a team of two finance assistants to ensure the team completes all tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Playing an active role in the development and ongoing training of the team, acting in a mentor capacity where necessary.
  • Taking responsibility for day to day accounting requirements of the company including analysis, reconciliation of accounts, management of finances and ownership of various functions.
  • Reviewing and authorising payments and transactions, proving accurate and timely processing of data into various systems, and ensuring the underlying nature of key transactions is understood and appropriately accounted.
  • Liaising with other teams in the business to build effective inter-departmental relationships with the aim of improving the product and the customer service offering.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and working with the Finance team (and other departments) to improve the efficiency of operations.
 

Desirable experience

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with experience of technical accounting.
  • Experience of people management.
  • Excellent IT skills, especially Excel, and other accounting software.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, work to tight deadlines, and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Awareness of the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and can apply these within the Company.
