Financial Controller

We are exclusively partnering with a large forward thinking international retail business that continues to expand with additional locations. They are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the senior management team. This is a very well known and highly respected business where your team will be responsible for the whole of the UK but also have some international accountability.

You will already have experience in a senior financial control position and used to managing a team of varied experience. You should have strong technical skills but be willing to offer an informed opinion on commercial matters.

• Lead the year-end preparation of files with lead schedules, working papers and supporting documents for annual audit to a very high standard
• Work closely with the Finance Director to deliver and analyse quality and accurate financial information and assist with driving the business to understand the information and provide performance, strategic and risk insight to the Senior Management Team
• Production of timely management information to support the board, FD and general decision making across the business
• Ensure the established day to day transactional processes and controls are in place and effective in all areas within Accounting and tax areas
• Developing and implementing key business processes, procedures and controls across the business ensuring first class service throughout
• A key player in the budgeting and forecasting process
• Liaise with Financial Reporting Manager and Group Reporting on technical reporting matters, new group reporting directives and GAAP releases with follow up actions as appropriate
• Driving consistent improvement to current processes and procedures
• Ensure a high level of compliance with all internal and external reporting
• Overhead and cost base analysis
• Business partnering a range of internal stakeholders
• Manage, lead and motivate the finance department, ensuring the efficient performance of accounting routines and controls.

Skills:

• Qualified senior finance professional with a number of years' experience in a fast moving and dynamic multi-site environment (Retail desirable)
• Experienced in managing a team of staff with a varied background, skills and qualifications
• Extensive knowledge and exposure to financial controls, external and internal audits and financial reporting
• A creative thinker with the ability to solve problems
• A good level of understanding of the preparation of corporate tax and capital allowance returns
• A good level of exposure to VAT compliance and reporting

This is a fantastic opportunity for a fully qualified technically minded controller (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with experience of end to end accounting management and the ability to partner at board level.
