Head of Finance

This is a truly fantastic opportunity for a Head of Finance: a number 1 finance role reporting directly to the Managing Directors of a highly successful and entrepreneurial multi-site retail SME who are rapidly expanding, based in Solihull, West Midlands.

Opportunities like this are rare - the business is looking to expand internationally as well as further within the UK, therefore we seek a hands-on Qualified Accountant who can not only lead the small finance team and the co-ordinate the statutory accounting, but as importantly, add crucial commercial support to the Senior Management Team, to drive the business forward.

The Head of Finance role is wide-ranging, with your main responsibilities being:

• Responsible for and leading and developing the finance function (currently 4 FTE's, likely to grow).

• Business Partnering and working extremely closely with the Managing Directors and Senior Management Team in developing the financial strategy and optimising their financial position.

• FP&A: providing financial planning and analysis, and robust challenge of group strategies to support the decision-making process, implementing changes where necessary, and influencing key stakeholders.

• Leading the finance team through month end and year end procedures, ensuring timescales and controls are adhered to.

• Responsible at all times for monitoring and management of group cash flows, including working capital management & debtor control.

• Consolidate the monthly Group results on a timely basis and providing monthly commentary thereon, with variance analysis to budgets and prior year.

• Develop relevant and regular KPI reporting to the business.

• Ensure IT systems are robust and compliant, supporting current requirements and ready for future growth.

• Budget preparation and forecasting.

• Liaison with external parties, including lenders, HMRC and Audit/ tax advisers.

The successful Head of Finance will be a fully Qualified Accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in producing both statutory & management accounts, and staff management. The successful candidate will be technically strong (UK Gaap and IFRS), yet also be highly commercially orientated and analytical - able to see the 'bigger picture' and work confidently with an entrepreneurial and ambitious Senior Management Team.

In person we seek someone who is self-assured, who can grow with this fast-paced and rapidly expanding business, managing multiple projects at any one time, and who operates in a timely and respectful manner. You will be a natural leader, with an eye for detail, numerate, and strong influencing skills - able to constructively criticise, and provide solutions.

This excellent Head of Finance role based in Solihull, West Midlands, is offering a base salary of between £70,000 - £80,000, plus a discretionary bonus (company and personal performance), as well as contributory pension scheme, private healthcare and other flexible benefits.
