Accountancy and Tax Manager

A newly created role within a growing and successful Accountancy Practice has been created to aid in the continued growth of the business.  Working closely with the MD, you will become an integral part of the business and significant opportunities for growth and personal development will be on offer over time.

The ideal candidate would be a qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA or ACMA) with a minimum of 10 years working in practice and 5 years in a senior management role. Ideally you will have worked in a medium-sized/larger practice and have experience of and an excellent working knowledge of limited company and partnership accounts, corporation tax, personal tax, payroll and VAT.

You will need to have a good working knowledge of and experience using IRIS and Sage software. Alongside a good understanding of cloud-based systems and demonstrate knowledge of how new technology will affect the accountancy sector in the next few years.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and driven individual with proven ability to motivate and manage a team. You will need to be able manage a heavy workload and prioritise and schedule work effectively along with being skilled at looking after clients by meeting agreed service levels and managing issues which arise

Duties:

•         Manage delivery of client work including – annual accounts, corporation tax, personal tax, partnership tax, payroll, VAT, management accounts, CIS and project work
•         Supervise and motivate a team of qualified and part-qualified staff.  Currently 7 but likely to grow at 1 person per annum
•         Deliver work to agreed timescales and quality standards
•         Mostly office-based but occasional visits to larger clients
•         Improve processes and develop systems to improve effectiveness
•         Achieve target profit levels

Preferred qualifications

•          ACA, ACCA or ACMA essential
•          A Tax qualification – ATT or CTA would be desirable
•          Proven proficiency with IRIS, Sage and other accounting software is essential
