Financial Accounting & Control Manager

Weston House - London

£49,000 to £55,900 per annum plus London weighting allowance of £3,366 per annum

The NSPCC’s mission is to end cruelty to children in the UK. Child abuse is preventable - not inevitable that’s why, every day, we work to protect children, prevent abuse and make child abuse a thing of the past. The finance function has a critical role to play in supporting our mission by ensuring effective management and control of the NSPCC’s resources, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and production and communication of financial information to all NSPCC stakeholders.

The Financial Accounting & Control Manager reports to the Head of Central Finance and has five direct reports – two Financial Accountants and three Finance Officers. The Financial Accounting Team is responsible for the primary ledgers, financial controls, production and reconciliation of the balance sheet, cash flow, VAT/Tax compliance, statutory accounts production and other external reporting. As Financial Accounting & Control Manager you will have responsibility for delivering operational effectiveness and technical compliance in this area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant who has experience of working in a financial function of a complex organisation. You will need experience in:

  • Production of consolidated Statutory Accounts
  • Dealing with external audit requirements
  • Up to date knowledge of general accounting principles and the ability to interpret and apply legislation to the NSPCC’s circumstances.

We are looking for a proactive Financial Accounting & Control Manager who is able to learn, review and develop internal processes and procedures, continuously looking to improve the services and outputs delivered by the team as well as enforcing compliance. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, able to understand a wide range of stakeholder needs and adapt services where necessary.

If you are an individual who enjoys a challenge and wishes to work in a high performing finance function, with the ability to develop and motivate a team of people to deliver results.

Due to the nature of the role flexibility may be required outside of the core hours to ensure deadlines and plans are delivered.

Everything we do counts towards ending cruelty to children, so if you are looking for a challenging and rewarding role, we would encourage you to apply now.
