An interim group financial controller is required for a luxury fashion retail business to cover a maternity. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the interim group financial controller will be responsible for running the day-to-day finance function and setting out and achieving the group finance department goals.
The interim group financial controller will also oversee the finance team, who are responsible for all aspects of financial reporting in the group. The successful candidate must have a recognised accountancy qualification, be a strong team leader and have excellent communication skills with a proactive nature.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead a team of four employees, with three direct reports.
- Prepare and publish monthly management accounts with commentary.
- Coordinate the year end process including preparation of consolidated financial statements and group audit.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Preparation and analysis of cash flow forecasting.
- Preparation and analysis of detailed cost reporting to key internal departmental heads.
- Monthly review of management accounts ensuring all variances are investigated, highlighting possible business risk scenarios, opportunities and proactively focusing on the impact these have on the business and the forecast.
- Monthly review of payroll and retail commissions prior to CFO approval
- Prepare and evaluate key performance indicators assessing implications to the business and strategic goals.
- Preparation and analysis of detailed stock reconciliations and reports.
- Be key contact for all external stakeholders, including auditors, bankers, payroll agency and shareholders.
- Assist the Finance Director in the final production of budgets and forecasts.
- All UK taxation including VAT, PAYE and Corporation tax.
Personal qualities & qualifications
- Recognised accountancy qualification.
- Strong educational background.
- Relevant retail industry or very similar experience with multi-site organisation is essential.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Excellent communication skills to both financial and non-financial individuals.
Knowledge of SAP and Sharperlight preferred.
