Project Accountant, North Yorkshire
Who will I work for?
A market leading construction business in North Yorkshire are looking to introduce a new a new Project Accountant to join their well-established team.
What will my role look like?
The main purpose of this role is to provide accurate and timely financial analysis, reporting and control of contract related costs. This position is accountable for monitoring the progress of contracts, investigating variances and ensuring that the financial position of contracts is budgeted correctly.
- Cash flow investigation and reporting for both income and expenditure
- Monitoring contract progress to support the Commercial Director with analysis of movements
- Communicate changed in the performance of projects
- Prepare project report forms and project review meetings and investigating and reporting of variances prior to meetings
- Control and improvement of discipline of contract cost postings
- Analysis and tracking of project cost variances
This role will works alongside an ambitious and successful commercial finance team. A number of the current team members have been promoted over the past couple of years which has left them a secure, stable team and a strong management structure.
What experience do I need?
- A qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Advanced Excel skills with proven experience of using Excel in a working environment - pivot tables and marcos
- Experience working as a Project Accountant or leading projects from a finance perspective in a similar role is needed
- Experience of working with non-finance people (business partnering) guiding, influencing and educating them
- Experience in the engineering, construction, manufacturing sector is ideal - the role will work at a quick pace so if you can demonstrate past experiences working in a fact paced environment this will be considered also
