Ignata Finance are recruiting a new Group Financial Controller for a high-growth, PE backed technology business based in Brighton. The business has expanded significantly in the past 12 months and this is an incredibly exciting time to join the company.
Reporting to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller has full ownership of the key finance function.
The current team of 7 is responsible for the production and internal reporting of the results of the group to internal and external stakeholders under UK GAAP – ensuring accuracy of results and producing consolidation of business commentaries.
Key Responsibilities:
• To manage and develop a small finance team with the support of the Assistant Financial Controller
• Maintain the systems and processes for producing the management accounts
• To maintain up to date and meaningful balance sheet reconciliations and analyses
• Oversee collation of information and creation of monthly results to ensure accurate and detailed financial information is available for the business management team in a timely fashion
• Prepare consolidated management accounts with commentaries on a monthly and quarterly basis including underlying performance
• To interpret the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow implications on the commercial performance of the business and the performance of the processes and controls
• To manage continued improvement in the efficiency, relevance, quality and consistency of accounting and reporting
• To liaise with the accounting firm in China on the production of accurate and timely management accounts
• Monitor the operation and evolution of the use of the SAGE accounting system
• Review and approve all balance sheet reconciliations
• Understand and promote the importance of tight balance sheet control and its use as an early warning of trading or control issues
• Prepare and control cash flow forecasts and achievement and reporting thereof
• Control local treasury requirements and reporting ensuring compliance with banking covenants and reporting requirements
• Oversee the capital expenditure budget to ensure expenditure is in line with expectations
• Manage the proper accounting of senior and shareholder debt and investment
• Manage the production and submission of accurate VAT reporting, including partial exemption, TOMS and capital goods scheme calculations
• Lead on complex accounting matters such as group consolidation and acquisition accounting
• Act as main point of contact with company auditors & insurers
• Oversee outsourced payroll function and ensure compliance at all times with payroll related taxes
• Ad-hoc duties and projects such as assisting with acquisitions integration
Candidate Requirements:
• Graduate caliber
• Qualified accountant with several years post qualification experience
• Extensive applied knowledge of the principles and practices of business reporting
• Experience of working with a SAGE finance system preferable
• Ability to work with and advise the wider business on best practice
• Confident communicator (both verbal and written) with a personable and professional manner and the ability to interact and relate to all levels of employees and build strong working relationships.
• Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft applications) with the ability to identify and apply IT solutions.
