Assistant Accountant

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a finance team of a £ 50 million turnover company, at a time of positive change.  The recent implementation of market leading financial software has created the opportunity to develop their team from being transaction and process driven, to an analytical and value adding function.

We are therefore excited to have a requirement for an Assistant Accountant who brings experience of improving margins via analysis and understanding of business processes, whilst also demonstrating a clear understanding the routines and controls required to produce robust, accurate and useful financial reporting.

• Supporting Financial Controller in maintaining a robust reporting environment.
• Ownership for the accurate and timely recording of transactions.
• Ownership of calculations and analysis of sales and cost of sales provisions.
• Reconciliation of high transaction volume of invoicing data to invoices and imports to finance system.
• Margin analysis to highlight missing costs and impact of changing sales mix.
• Approval of credits in line with policy.
• Working with cost centre managers to ensure a focus performance vs budget through monthly expenditure analysis.
• Reporting findings, highlighting opportunities and developing recommendations.
• Assist with project reporting and reconciliations of allocated balance sheet accounts.
• Bank Reconciliations.
• Assist in preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments.
• Credit Card and fuel card posting and reconciliation.
• Assist in the preparation of the year-end audit files and analysis.
• Ensuring a focus on cash flow management.
• Other duties as required.

If of interest, you will need to be studying an Accountancy qualification (CIMA / ACCA) with demonstrable experience of commercial analysis and thinking. Demonstrable experience of driving improvements in robust financial controls. A confident communicator. Deadline focused. Possess a keen eye for detail is essential alongside a talent for problem solving and analysis and have strong MS Excel skills, benefits include full study support, pension and free parking.
