Emerald Resourcing are working in partnership with a hugely successful global leisure client who are currently experiencing significant organisational change. The primary focus of this newly created role is to lead a project to implement robust finance workflow documentation across all trading divisions. This exciting and challenging role is primarily responsible for defining the future process of documenting and identifying existing risks and working with the project team to investigate and implement consistent and rigorous balance sheet processes.  

Key duties include:

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining internal controls documentation for all processes.  Identify risks and process weaknesses and perform walkthrough testing.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining end to end workflow process documentation, detailing all touch points and including all system accounting and system trigger points. 
  • Define the policy and approval process for new contracts, to ensure full documentation is completed pre-implementation and sufficient testing and monitoring is carried out.
  • Identify and lead any consultancy required with external providers, to obtain detailed and accurate accounting and transaction reporting.
  • Lead the investigation into the current processes for reconciliation of system interfaces; document and propose consistent global processes.
  • Identify risks in divisional balance sheets from review of balance sheet reconciliations and process workflows.  
  • Implement, where appropriate, centralised monitoring of accrued expenses for all divisions.
  • Define the investigation work required and support the Divisional FC to co-ordinate and complete investigations. 
  • Propose process and/or accounting changes to balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet review process to drive consistency across all divisions. Ensure balance sheet reconciliations include accurate, transparent and useful information.
  • Propose and document new policies where applicable, for instance, provision or write off policy.
  • Create & maintain a summary of areas of risk on balance sheets, including P&L impact. 
  • Support the Divisional FC to implement process change across the finance teams, where necessary.
  • Support the Divisional FC to identify the training requirements within all finance teams and proposing the appropriate training or consultancy required.  
  • Work with the Head of Finance to create and implement the reporting of risks and opportunities within the balance sheet on a monthly basis. 
  • Assist the Head of Finance to identify income streams within current central P&L structure to be distributed to divisions.   Set up and maintain process for distribution to divisions for management accounting.
  • Assist the Head of Finance and divisional finance teams to implement IFRS accounting changes, such as IFRS 16 Leases effective 1 January 2019.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record in identifying and improving existing internal controls, ideally on a global level, and producing key internal controls documentation. You will possess excellent relationship management skills, be determined with a logical thought process and the ability to identify and solve complex accounting problems and issues.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract that may be offered on a permanent basis in the future.
