A specialist Manufacturer supplying niche products across the UK and mainland Europe have an exciting opportunity for an ACA Qualified Financial Accountant to join them in Chester for a full-time, permanent role.

Responsibilities of your new role

Reporting directly into the Group Financial Controller, you will work as part of the central finance team, coordinating the production of the Group's monthly management accounts and taking a lead on statutory accounts compliance for the Groups UK companies and certain overseas subsidiaries. As Financial Accountant you will:

  • Prepare the group monthly management accounts, including analysis of subsidiary and group performance
  • Perform the group consolidation of UK and overseas entities monthly, ensuring compliance with IFRS
  • Complete overseas sub-consolidations
  • Produce financial data & reports for Group's owners, Directors and other departments on request
  • Support business development activities, including the integration of any subsidiary acquisitions
  • Reconcile group accounts to the business intelligence system
  • Take responsibility for certain areas of the balance sheet, ensuring reconciliations are performed on a timely basis
  • Prepare the year end statutory accounts (IFRS) for the group and its UK subsidiaries
  • Assist with the management of the year end audit process, acting as a key point of contact during the audit
  • Develop Group Accounting Policies and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Assist in developing and implementing a robust financial control framework to facilitate accounting rigour
  • Assist the Group tax manager in the completion of taxation returns
  • Ad-hoc commercial and operational analysis

Candidate requirements

The business seeks an ACA qualified Financial Accountant with strong technical skills plus demonstrated resilience and flexibility within a growing group environment. Ideally, you should also demonstrate: 

  • Knowledge of accounting standards and experience preparing financial statements under IFRS
  • Experience working in or with a large, international group environment
  • Developing strong relationships with stakeholders and the ability to demonstrate appreciation of cultural differences when dealing with overseas colleagues and advisers
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work as part of a small team, managing multiple tasks
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to manipulate large volumes of data
  • Understanding of a complex business processes and assess the financial impact of decisions
  • A basic knowledge of corporation tax and VAT
