A leading accountancy practice with international presence and a diverse portfolio of clients. This firm provides a range of advisory services to support clients in their chosen markets and sectors, this firm are experts in the following sectors; manufacturing, not-for-profit, social housing, technology and media as well as recruitment. In the Manchester office, this firm has 17 partners and over 240 staff, enabling them to provide an excellent client service to a broad range of clients.

Your new role
As a VAT Manager you will consider any VAT issues that might arise from clients prospective business plans to ensure that VAT does not compromise these arrangements. You will assist a diverse range of clients with a wide variety of VAT issues, ranging from applications to register for VAT to complex matters such as partial exemption calculations, the capital goods scheme, the tour operator's margin scheme (TOMS) and the place of supply of goods or services. You will also carry out a more general VAT review to enable your client to take a pro-active approach to its VAT affairs, ensuring the business is VAT efficient, or give an early warning of exposure to VAT errors that could give rise to costly assessments, interest charges and penalties from HMRC. You will also be able to identify VAT opportunities to improve cash flow.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be a successful candidate for this position, you will maintain an in depth and up to date, knowledge of VAT legislation, demonstrable by a recent role in VAT within practice. The ideal candidate will have staff management experience and educated to degree level, and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent. You will be able to profitably manage a client portfolio and actively seek opportunities for developing new clients and for selling new services to existing clients.

In return for your efforts you will receive a salary of between £45,000-£52,000 dependent on experience, in addition to 25 days annual leave and 8 days bank holiday.
