Our client is a high growth PE backed service business, focused on recycling services to businesses in London and across the UK.  They have achieved high growth with plans to scale further.  They are seeking an ambitious, technically strong Financial Controller with ability to drive change and implement a robust financial reporting framework. You will have the opportunity to build a best-in-class finance function, providing visible and proactive leadership of the finance function to ensure the team are engaged and motivated.  You will be responsible for all aspects of P&L reporting, balance sheet & cash management for the Group; including the design and maintenance of strong financial controls, operational finance, preparation of financial reports and input to business analysis and the budget/forecasting cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document and embed scalable finance processes and controls to support significant company growth, improve team efficiency and reduce reporting timelines.
  • Ensure there is enough control and structure to cope with and support due diligence for future transactions.
  • To challenge the business in a constructive way, driving continued commercial performance and value creation.
  • Work with the CFO to support strategic initiatives, price reviews and address investor requests.
  • Manage the month end close process and prepare monthly management accounts and Board pack (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and KPIs) including detailed commentaries.
  • Closely manage the cash and treasury function: including cash flow forecasting.
  • Monthly Balance Sheet review
  • Review of control and process, identifying and implementing improvements across the finance function
  • Monitor and model forward visibility of banking covenant compliance and other obligations under financing arrangements; including financial forecasting and working capital.
  • Act as finance lead in current and future finance transformation projects re: Financial reporting, control and MIS systems to ensure timely, accurate data and analysis to support the quality of management decision making.
  • Ensure HMRC compliance including VAT returns, corporation and other tax returns/reporting.
  • Lead the annual audit process and ensure strong control is implemented and documented
  • Keep abreast of developments in accounting standards and advise CFO and Board of their implications for the organisation.
  • Manage, motivate and develop the Finance Team.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships (including information gathering and other support) with 3rd parties and advisors including HMRC, insurance, pension, bankers and auditors.
  • Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to support strategic decision making.

Requirements

  • Degree educated
  • Thrives in a fast paced, team focussed positive culture
  • Qualified Accountant with 4+ years PQE
  • Track record of transformation and change management, implementation and development of financial process and control, MIS improvements - ensuring finance has supported a business scaling up.
  • Team mentoring and management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task & excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong technical accounting skills.
