Are you looking for a multi-sited operational Finance Director role within the manufacturing sector? I have a newly created role of UK Operational Finance Director, for a well-known global Manufacturing market leader who are going through a period of change where you would need to demonstrate that you have lead projects to maximise revenues, working with stakeholders to improve profitability.

The Role

Working closely with the Director of UK Operations, the role will operate as part of the leadership team providing finance leadership and supporting a number of strategic and operational projects which will require you to challenge and test the business and take ownership implement the finance operational strategy across the UK sites.

As Director of UK Finance, you will have a thorough understanding of product costing and collaborate closely with Director of UK Operations in monitoring and updating BOM's and routings. You will also take the lead on more accurate budgets and forecasts by creating and executing a hand-on, robust and timely commercial reporting framework within this high profile role

Responsibilities including:

  • Operational Excellence Ensure finance positively supports and manages the business unit by providing key information to support and maximise revenue, profitability and efficiency by developing and driving the management reporting and creating a dashboard of KPI reports and strategic targets to all management;
  • Strategy and Planning Support the Board of Directors in strategic goals for future planning;
  • Budgeting and Forecasting lead the financial delivery of the strategic plan and annual budgeting process;
  • Business Partner operational and commercial teams by attending operational meetings and establishing finance as an integral partner of the organisation. Monitoring financial targets and align business unit plans with cross-functional partners and ensuring alignment of main board objectives to unit objectives and achieve financial results;
  • Commercial Awareness Develop, coordinate and implement short and medium term strategic plans for customers;
  • Capital Investment Provide a financial strategy to analysing capital equipment and investment programme; Co-ordinate and justify all capital expenditure requests and provide post investment appraisal;
  • Financial Reporting for the financial performance for the UK business units and critical variance analysis together with providing analytical direction and actions to achieve the targeted results;
  • Cashflow Manage the cash flow of the business, to ensure working capital is optimised;
  • Product Costing Ensure product costing is accurate and costing methodology is robust;
  • Inventory Control Achieve an effective internal control, ensure inventory control procedures, including cycle counts, restricted stock analysis, and annual inventory counts are adhered to;
  • Developing relationships with internal stakeholders including IT to develop financial reporting as well as external parties (Auditors);
  • Ad-hoc Projects Carry out any other duties within the capability of UK Director of Finance.

The Person

This role requires a commercially astute and visionary Director of Finance who can install operational excellence. This role will challenge the status quo, seeking out the best way forward and help make the necessary changes to ensure best practice.

The background and key attributes

  • Graduate calibre with recognised Accountancy Qualification ACA, ACCA, ACMA;
  • With significant hands-on experience in a senior finance position, including progressive levels of responsibilities in accounting and people management;
  • A strong team player with proven leadership qualities, capable of motivating, controlling and developing staff;
  • At least 5 years in manufacturing and costing background working and managing multi-locations,
  • Haworked in a corporate environment with good governance in the areas of ERP implementation and reporting development;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of pricing & standard costing within the manufacturing sector;
  • Hahands-on experience in investment appraisal techniques;
  • Strong analytically with financial modelling, analysis and evaluation skills to be able to understand the numbers and the issues they relate to; and challenge the status quo and investigate issues;
  • Proven ability to think strategicallybuild and develop a long vision deliver change;
  • A solid understanding of IT & ERP Financial systems and advanced Excel skills;
  • Strong drive to ensure there is continuous improvement and getting things done;
  • Confident with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organisation and with third parties;
  • Working alongside highly motivated leadership team, you must be able to articulate and evidence how initiatives benefit the business.
