SIMPSON (York) Limited

Simpson is a privately owned, debt free, business operating across three Divisions; Fit-Out, Construction and Property Development. The Company was formed in 1922 and they service contracts across the UK, from a Head Office in York. Simpson underpin their business with impeccable levels of service and they work hard to always exceed the expectations of their clients. As a result, 83% of their work is repeat business and they have a large and impressive client list.

The current Finance Director is retiring this year and his replacement will be joining at an important time for the continued development and success of the business. The opportunity to work as part of a diverse but high performing team is exciting and the successful applicant will play a key part in the company’s evolution as they take advantage of multiple developments and opportunities in their sector.

Simpson is underpinned by traditional but very commercially focused principles and the Finance Director must be able to bring additional commercial and strategic bandwidth to the senior management team whilst also maintaining a hands-on familiarity with the financial detail of the company.

Further developing the rigorous and scalable financial controls environment will be key to the success of this role. With sound and meaningful analysis of the financial information you will be able to ensure that the relationship led, and entrepreneurial nature of the organisation continues to flourish.

This role will have a direct impact on the bottom line by increasing internal efficiencies as well as facilitating an increasingly rapid and commercially rigorous assessment of opportunities for growth and further profitability across all three Divisions.

The successful candidate will have a broad but stable background with experience in both a larger corporate environment and an owner managed business. Experience within construction will be useful and a demonstrable enthusiasm for the sector will be investigated at interview.

Interpersonally, candidates must be credible, enthusiastic and well-rounded. You will be a confident communicator but also able to develop relationships at every level within the organisation. As a member of the Senior Management Team you will be keen to play an active part in customer and supplier conversations and negotiations. A genuine interest in the values of the business (cultural and environmental) will also be evident.

Simpson invest in their people and alongside a market leading salary and benefits package there is also the opportunity for an LTIP which could include share options.

If this opportunity is of interest, please send a copy of your most recent CV along with details of your current salary and benefits package.
