LEAD AND DELIVER AMBITIOUS PLANS

Hays Senior Finance is proud to be working in partnership with YMCA Thames Gateway who are the largest and oldest charity working with young people across the world and who have been serving the local community for over 130 years. Across England there are 114 YMCAs, each one is a thriving and active community, a community that is transforming people's lives. Working from the following locations: Romford, Dartford, Greenwich and Ashford and YMCA Thames Gateway is also proud to support TMCA Thamesmead.

Due to increasing challenges across the group continuing to grow and develop, we are looking to appoint a Head of Finance & IT which is a newly created role to join our finance team in Romford. This is a pivotal role in ensuring resources are in place for the effective operation of the Financial and Management accounting functions, along with IT by business partnering with the responsible department Managers.

As the Head of Finance & IT you will report directly to the Director of Finance & Resources and manage the Finance Manager and the Finance Team to ensure the organisations strategic objectives and business plans are met. You will advise the Director of Finance & Resources on all financial and IT matters and ensure business decisions are aligned with the financial strategy and work to enhance financial culture and performance.

You will be responsible for business analysis and financial controls, ensuring the ongoing financial viability of the charity and the submitting of financial returns in line with appropriate legislation. The role will also involve working in conjunction with the Corporate Resources Manager to lead the management of the IT department and to be responsible for project managing IT system developments and upgrades and lead on our current and future digital engagement ambitions.

You will be a finance professional and ideally be CCAB qualified or be a QBE with significant senior finance experience in a similar senior finance role, with evidence of continuous professional development and experience of managing a finance team. Knowledge of charity accounting and using Sage Line 200 would be advantageous.

You will have gravitas, drive and ambition and above all you will have a strong degree of commercial acumen, with the ability to liaise with high level key stakeholders and create insightful financial information that will drive business performance. You will be highly commercial, a strong team manager and be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.

The YMCA Thames Gateway has a hands-on, problem solving, team culture so it is essential that you have the ability to roll your sleeves up and be involved in the day to day operations as well as coaching and influencing others to continue to innovate and improve our financial processes.

This is an exciting time to join YMCA Thames Gateway and if you feel you have the drive and the passion to help us to achieve our mission and vision, then we can offer you a role that is not only hugely satisfying but brings great benefits and a stimulating and supportive working environment.

In return we are offering a competitive salary, including excellent benefits such as; contributory stakeholder pension with up to 8% employer contribution, 38 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), 4 x salary death in service cover, free gym membership of our Romford gym, staff canteen discounts, subsidised childcare for children placed in our settings and free car parking. Flexible working arrangements including part time hours and working from home 1 day a week for the right candidate will also be considered.
