Reporting to the Rent and Service Charge Manager, the Rent and Income Accountant will provide a comprehensive rent setting and income accounting service.
The main purpose of the role is to:
· To maintain the data required to produce stock/property/conversion information including figures for the financial statements, regulatory submissions and monthly balanced scorecard
· To produce models which calculate all new rents, and to prepare the annual re-calculation of rents in line with the Rent Standard, including producing data for Customer letters, Housing Benefit and DWP schedules;
· Maintain and update the stock monitoring/rent planning spreadsheet to help ensure rental income is maximised and to ensure stock movements are accurately tracked for regulatory and statutory reporting purposes
Key responsibilities include:
· Ensure the annual rent and service charges are uploaded correctly and on time each year and that direct debits are updated
· To pre-populate master budget information for service charges and reconcile before the new financial year;
· Ownership of the rent roll, identifying anomalies and ensuring accuracy of stock data and the rent debit;
· Calculate, monitor and report on arrears and bad debt provision against budget and performance data;
· To set and embed a high support/high challenge culture in line with the Competency Framework in order to support and develop your team to realise individual and team potential and ensure effective service delivery.
· To set, monitor and deliver on key performance indicators across the department, aiming to deliver continuous improvement;
· To suggest ideas for change to ensure we are always efficient and effective, with a focus on digital delivery of services;
· Ensure the department provides a high quality financial service to all Group companies, and to all internal and external customers;
· To inspire and motivate staff, developing and managing team members (direct and indirect) effectively and enabling them to give their best;
· To deliver value for money and manage resources effectively and efficiently, ensuring that targets (financial and non-financial) are met;
· To develop a culture of customer satisfaction throughout Great Places, leading to an enhanced reputation locally and further afield;
Experience and skills required:
· Experience within a finance setting, ideally within a regulated environment
· Experience of rent accounting in a complex environment;
· Experience of preparing budgets, forecasts and management accounts
· Experience of delivering efficiency savings and driving business decisions;
· Strong IT skills and proficient in excel
· Experience of manipulating large volumes of data for multiple scenarios
· Proven relationship builder and influencer with stake holders
· Proven management skills
· The ability to motivate, inspire and influence a large and diverse workforce by example and persuasion
