Technical Accounting Specialist

Howett Thorpe are working with a Global company based in Berkshire with exciting growth plans both UK and Internationally. As a Technical Accounting Manager you will report directly into the Controller and will Partner with the Corporate Controller organisation to maintain and expand the global accounting policies. This role is an ideal opportunity for candidates either from a Big 4 background looking for a move into industry or ACA Qualified candidates with experience already in industry but looking for a new and exciting challenge. 

Technical Accounting Specialist - About The Role

As the Technical Accounting Specialist you will: 

Lead the technical accounting review of large and unusual contracts
Actively support efforts and analyse and implement the new revenue recognition accounting standards (effects both IFRS and US GAAP), which is expected to be a multi-year effort. 
Primary contact for technical accounting matters on revenue recognition.
Assist with other newly issued or revised accounting standards 
Draft and review technical accounting memos for unusual or complex matters. Assist with addressing any external auditor questions or concerns
Partner with the organization to provide additional technical accounting support to any business combination activity (i.e. M&A).
Assisting with other projects set out by CFO
Preparation and delivery of training programmes to finance and non-finance personnel on revenue recognition rules and other areas of complex accounting under US GAAP and IFRS

The successful Technical Accounting Specialist will have the following skills / knowledge & experience:

ACA qualified or equivalent with a strong preference for Big4 but not essential
Demonstrable experience of working for an international company with multi country teams
Strong technical proficiency in US GAAP and IFRS
Experience of revenue recognition
Able to influence and communicate effectively at all levels, including external auditors
Able to develop strong relationships and working collaboratively with key contracts across the business
Must be passionate and enthusiastic and having what it takes to drive our business forward
