Our client is a uniquely positioned group with a series of companies that finance infrastructure within frontier markets - through equity investing, lending or guarantees - to mobilise private sector investment in developing countries. The group is primarily funded by a number of governments but works closely with the private sector in a commercial manner to finance much needed investment in infrastructure to help alleviate poverty.
As part of the exciting long-term plans for the group, they are looking to recruit a Financial Controller, reporting to the Group Head of Finance. This role sits within the Group holding company and has responsibility for the day to day running of the finance team.
The role represents a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in an organisation delivering measurable and real impact.
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsibility for financial accounting of the Holding company and Group finance functions
- Preparation of monthly management reporting
- Provision of support to the Group Audit committee
- Management of the general ledger system
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
- Responsibility for corporation tax computations, VAT returns, PSA and P11Ds
- Improving processes and controls in the holding company and around the Group, including supporting documentation
- Management of the Service Level Agreements and process, including preparation of transfer pricing calculations
- Liaison with other Group companies regarding intercompany recharges
- Management of payroll data including salary journals
- Oversight of the Concur expenses process
- Overseeing the quarterly Transparency reporting (including Director expenses and Legal contracts)
Requirements:
- You will be a Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Ideally a minimum of 2+ years post qualification experience
- Strong IFRS knowledge
- An interest in Financial services and/or working with government departments or PPP arrangements an advantage
- Keen to learn and develop the role
- Strong Excel, report writing and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and be able to meet deadlines
