The Consultancy Group are currently recruiting for a Senior Group Accountant for a PLC Global media business based in Central London.

This role is key to the delivery of monthly group consolidated reporting, technical accounting projects and assessments including ongoing Revenue and Leasing standard implementation, working capital/balance sheet reviews and corporate transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Group Financial Controller to deliver monthly group consolidation reporting and reviews and contributing to quarterly US external reporting
  • Collaboration with other Headquarters functions including Tax, Legal, Treasury and FP&A
  • Performing technical US GAAP accounting assessments and leading/implementing ongoing technical accounting projects across the business e. new revenue recognition (ASC 606 & IFRS 15) and lease accounting (ASC 842 & IFRS 16) standards
  • Preparing and presenting quarterly Revenue and Lease disclosure templates to V. of Accounting in US, for inclusion in external filings
  • Working closely with other departments on the completeness, accuracy and compliance of monthly Revenue and Lease variables with newly adopted US GAAP standards
  • Managing Holding company reporting
  • Managing the reporting and execution of cross-border loan transaction
  • Performing and presenting monthly working capital reviews to GFC
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the GFC
  • Preparation, filing and liaison with auditors for UK FRS102 statutory accounts
  • Overseeing group intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Supporting corporate transactions
  • Managing and supporting development of junior group accountant

Essential Requirements

  • A qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent

  • Proven experience in a group finance function and working and developing within an international corporate environment
  • US GAAP and IFRS technical accounting experience, specifically in newly adopted revenue and lease standard
  • Advanced Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (e. pivot tables, v-lookup, SumIFs, indirect formulas, nested IF/OR statements, Power Pivot)
  • Experience using IBM's Cognos Controller and TM1 tools to consolidate group accounts
  • Experience using lease accounting systems to report and consolidate group lease figures
  • Experience with applying/interpreting technical accounting policies specifically within the context of the media industry
  • Proven track record of coordinating and rolling out new technical accounting adoption projects
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
