With a significant leadership role within Scope, the Head of Finance is responsible for maintaining an effective financial and fiscal control framework, the provision of fit for purpose and efficient finance and procurement services, procurement strategy, statutory and fiscal reporting, treasury management and safeguarding the assets of the charity.

Head of Finance Role purpose
Scope is embarked on a programme of fundamental change to delivers its strategy. A key component of this is the establishment of a high-performing corporate centre.  As an organisational leader and function leader, this role is key to the design and delivery of a lean and efficient corporate support team, focussed on achieving our strategic aims and making the most of our resources. 

With a significant leadership role within Scope, the Head of Finance is responsible for maintaining an effective financial and fiscal control framework, the provision of fit for purpose and efficient finance and procurement services, procurement strategy, statutory and fiscal reporting, treasury management and safeguarding the assets of the charity.

Supporting the divestment process over the eighteen months to April 2018 put considerable strain on the resources of the finance team and led to a deterioration in the financial and fiscal control framework. Following the divestment of regulated and day services the Finance team was also significantly reduced in size. The ‘Finance Project’ has been initiated to restore the control framework by March 2019 and enable the job holder to deliver the key accountabilities set out for this role.

This role is also required to develop and manage their team’s capacity and capabilities to meet the requirements of Scope in delivering its strategy on a consistent basis and to deputise for the Executive Director of Finance as required. 

Budget responsibility
Responsibility for Finance operations and procurement team budget (£1.1m)

Management responsibility
Managing a team of 11 staff including 5 direct reports.
