Head of Finance

Dartmouth are partnering with an ambitious investment management start-up who have developed stellar partnerships with leading global clients. Following the successful sale of his previous business the highly entrepreneurial CEO is seeking a diligent professional to work with him in his next venture.

As the sole in-house finance hire you will report directly into and work very closely with the CEO and founding shareholders. In turn you will need to be a strong business partner who will offer and implement new analyses to improve key metrics and company strategy, as well as a technically astute accountant who can build a best in-class scalable finance function.

Overview of responsibilities include:

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the business’ finances in an all-encompassing role covering management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT, budgeting and forecasting.

  • Support the CEO on future investment rounds, providing key analysis to inform decision making
  • Present key business information to the owners and investors on a regular basis
  • Responsible for building a finance team as the firm continues to scale
  • Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met
  • Ownership of the annual audit process
  • Production and monitoring of management accounts against budget and cash flow forecasting for CEO and shareholder review
  • Accruals, prepayments and their journals
  • Monitoring and reconciling bank and all balance sheet control accounts
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Managing purchase invoices and expenses, managing the payment approval cycle
  • Managing the outsourced payroll and pension function producing monthly departmental journals

The candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) (ACA preferred from a top 10 firm)
  • Demonstrated history of academic achievement and career development
  • A hands-on and diligent approach
  • Start-up approach, no task is too big or too small for you
  • Ready and willing to get your hands dirty
  • In it for the long haul – the business is going somewhere, and you will be part of that journey
  • Previous experience in a start-up/SME/growth business environment
  • Experience working within a Financial Services business
